Colca Canyon

As one of the world’s deepest canyons and one of Peru’s most beautiful places, Colca Canyon is truly a sight to behold.

With a depth of 10,730ft, pre-Inca roots and a colorful culture still visible today, Colca Canyon attracts over 120,000 visitors each year.

Misti

Located 20 km northwest of Arequipa and 19,110 ft above sea level, El Misti volcano is undoubtedly the most prominent feature of the landscape surrounding Arequipa.

Arequipa is often referred to as “The White City by its residents. This is due to the construction of many of its colonial buildings with white rock from the surrouding volcanoes, known as sillar.

Due to Arequipa’s year-round mild climate, a climb to the summit of EL Misti is a popular service provided by many tour operators.

Treks to the top of the mountain usually take approximately 2 days, but it’s well worth the work to experience the sheer beauty of the surrounding land, a sight that is not soon forgotten.

Easily the best white water rafting expedition that I’ve come across in South America. Navigating the Rio Chili and trekking through Colca Canyon are definitely up there with the most memorable experiences of my 5 months of travel! Without a doubt this is one of the best experiences I’ve had.
